In famine he will ransom you from death In famine he will ransom you from death, and in battle from the stroke of the sword.( Job 5:20 ) Most of us have experienced a famine in our lives. Maybe not exactly a famine where food and water was a scarcity but several other famines. Spiritual famines, famine involving love and care, famines that involved our finances and several others. Whatever be it, this promise from the Bible says that God will ransom you from death in famine. Do you know what ransom means? Literally it means that God will pay the price to free you from the famine that you have been experiencing in your life these days. Remember God has paid the ransom for you by sending His only son to the cross and a horrible death. Whatever be the famine you are experiencing, God says he will ransom you from death in that famine. Not only that, in battle he will save you from the stroke of the sword. Are you involved in a spiritual battle with the enemy? The Bible says, "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassion never fail. They are new every morning (Lamentation 3:22, 23) Famine and battle may come. But Jesus says, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me." (John 14:1) Surely in famine he will ransom you from death and in battle from the stroke of the sword.
