Blessed are those who wash their robes

Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. (Revelation 22:14)

Here is a conditional promise from the book of Revelation. A blessing for washing our robes. Seems pretty easy on paper, doesn't it? But in practical Christian life, how difficult! The reward though is not a small one. The reward is "eternal life"

The fruit of the "tree of life" which is now guarded by cherubs and a flaming sword will be given to everyone who overcomes, according to the Word of God. Overcome what? Overcome the fleshly and worldly desires namely lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and pride of life. That's exactly what the Apostle John means by "washing the robes"

A daily life of cleansing ourselves with the Word of God is essential for this. When we read the "Word" each day, the Lord speaks to us regarding the sins and unrighteousness in our lives and directs us to walk on the right path.

Those who eat of the "tree of life" will live forever with God in heaven. There could be no greater blessing than this. Our short term goals in life should not make us forget our ultimate aim in life- Eternal life in heaven.

Some of us are so particular in buying the best detergent for washing our clothes so that we may be clean and presentable in the presence of others. There's no better detergent other than the Word of God for washing our spiritual self though. It's a detergent, antiseptic and perfumer all in one.

Shall we then take a decision to wash our robes regularly to receive the promise that we read above-the right to the tree of life? No better decision I guess.
