All these blessings will come upon you
Blessed are those who wash their robes
But the needy will not always be forgotten
Delight yourself in the Lord
Don't be afraid
Fear the LORD, you his saints
For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe
God blesses the righteous
God does not reject a blameless man
God will heal your land
God with you to fight for you
He guides the humble in what is right
He will love you and bless you
I am the LORD, who heals you
I have never seen the righteous forsaken
I will send rain on your land
In famine he will ransom you from death
Live and prosper
Many will court your favor
My Presence will go with you
New Year Promise
Prosper in everything you do
Surely goodness and love will follow me
The Eternal God is your refuge
The eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth
The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer
The LORD will grant victory
The LORD will grant you abundant prosperity
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them
Those who know your name will trust in you
Those who suffer he delivers in their suffering
Wait for the Lord
Whatever you do you will prosper
Worship the LORD your God
You have filled my heart with greater joy
You will be prosperous and successful
You will be protected from the lash of the tongue
You will be restored
You will be secure
You will come to the grave in full vigor
You will live and increase
You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning
Your work will be rewarded
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.  (Psalm 34:18)

Not much is needed to break a heart. It is more fragile than glassware. A rude word, a rude look, anything, absolutely anything can break a heart. And we all have experienced it in our lives. Some broken hearts heal fast, some take much time to heal. It depends on the depth of the wound and the condition of the heart concerned at the time of getting hurt.

The more the depth of the wound, the more the likelihood of prolonged sorrow. Yet amidst this we have a wonderful promise from the Word of God which is like a soothing balm. When no words from man can comfort, the presence of our Savior does the impossible. In the above verse, the psalmist speaks of the closeness of the Lord to the broken hearted. He's there to strengthen and help us amidst the crises that we face in our lives as believers.

The second part of the verse above speaks of an even more terrible state that a person can be in i.e. crushed in spirit. The "crushed in spirit" are like a flower mashed in someone's hands. There's nothing left of the beauty or the fragrance. They become a shadow of their "old self". Nothing more to hope for or hope in. But here too the Savior can do the impossible. That's why He's called Jesus- because He saves and saves to the utmost.

Are you broken hearted today? Are you crushed in spirit? Trust in Jesus. He will heal you and grant you "peace that passes all understanding." He is your Savior, now and forevermore.
