Delight yourself in the Lord Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalms 37:4) Delight means 'to take great pleasure or joy in someone or something.' We all have delighted/do delight in different persons or things at different times. Some are delighted when they are with the person they like/love the most. Some are delighted when they have their favorite food or hear their favorite music or see their favorite movie and so on and so forth. It's easy to delight in persons/things that are visible, but here the Psalmist advices us to delight in God Almighty whom we have not seen. Now, that's a difficult proposition to many. How can we delight in someone we cannot see? Ask some! Well, we can delight in Him in many ways. We have His Word-the Bible with us and meditating upon it and living it joyfully is one way of delighting in Him. Acknowledging that He is the fountain of all blessings is another way of delighting in Him. A thankful heart will praise and worship spontaneously. Personal worship is of prime importance in delighting in the Lord because it's a one to one experience and we can tell Him how much He means to us. And what does delighting in the Lord bring us? Blessings! Great blessings. That's what the Psalmist says in the verse above. He says that the Lord will give us the desires of our heart if we delight in Him. So have you been delighting in Jesus? If yes, your heart's desires are going to be fulfilled soon. If no, you'd better take an urgent decision of doing so and see great blessings being poured on you from on high. |
