You will be protected from the lash of the tongue You will be protected from the lash of the tongue, and need not fear when destruction comes. (Job 5:21 ) Have you ever experienced the lash of the tongue? I guess you must have experienced that more than once and others have experienced a few lashes from your tongue too. And the effects must have been devastating .In Psalm 64 the Psalmist cries to God for deliverance from his enemies saying, " They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their words like deadly arrows." The prophet Jeremiah's enemies plotted against him and said, " Let's kill him with our tongues ". The tongue is a fire according to apostle James. A deadly weapon that can hurt and kill. But the Lord promises to protect you from the lash of the tongue and he says you need not fear when destruction comes. Who wouldn't fear when destruction comes? Everyone does but this verse means that you may see destruction coming but it won't come near you .In Psalm 91 we read, " If you make the most high your dwelling, even the Lord - who is my refuge, then no harm will befall you no disaster will come near your tent (verses 9, 10) When Jacob ran away from Laban and Laban pursued him and caught up with him, he told Jacob," I have the power to harm you, but last night the God of your father said to me, " Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad " (Genesis 31: 29) " God will stop the mouth of your enemies too. Be faithful to him and He will never leave you nor forsake you. |
