Those who know your name will trust in you

Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. (Psalm 9:10)

Though the beginning of this verse sounds very simple, the meaning of the verse in totality is very profound. What’s so difficult in knowing the name of God? In the Old Testament, ‘Jehovah’ was the name that was revered by the people of God, the Israelites; and coming to the New testament we see the emphasis on ‘Jesus’. It’s not knowing the name that the Psalmist is talking of here, but what faith & trust in that name can bring about.

In Acts Chapter 3, when a 40 year old lame man is healed by the power of God, the people are astonished and create a commotion, but Peter tells them, “By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see.” (Acts 3:16)

Open the Word of God and read through and you will see great miracles happening for them who trusted in the Lord. When we hope against hope, trusting in the one and only name (Jesus) that can do wonders for us, we are justly rewarded.

Look back upon your own life and you will see that there have been many many occasions where you trusted in the Lord and you witnessed a miracle. So do not despair, the Lord is nigh. And your miracle is nigh too.

Splitting the Red Sea or getting you a good job or giving you a raise in your salary or getting your debts cleared or solving your family problems are all simple things for the Lord. Just trust in His name and call on Him in truth and you will again see the mighty hand of the Lord working on your behalf. Remember, “He never forsakes those who seek Him”.
